Holiday times are the most cheerful times in US. You can sense the holiday cheer in everything around you. In school holidays meant no school, no work. Once I started working I realized holidays essentially did not only mean no work. Even if there was work, holidays meant work in an amazingly positive ambience. Everybody is so relaxed and peaceful. People would go around dancing and singing carols in office. Amazing food every other day, so many gifts and never ending parties and the list goes on and on.
You open any website and right there would be all the holiday colors, reds, whites and greens, waiting to cheer you up. You step outside your house, every house in the neighborhood is dazzling with lights, reindeers and Santa's bringing a peaceful smile on your face. You switch on the television, there is the news reader looking as sweet as ever in that cute green Elf dress. You just have to open your eyes to realize life is beautiful with lots of goodies instore for you.
Beware but, these are also the times where malls squeeze out money from your pockets every week by adsvertizing their sale as the biggest of the season. I could never figure out, how come every sale is the biggest of the season. But nevertheless, i go shopping in almost everyone, fearing it might actually be the biggest and I would miss out on a great deal :P. Paper catalogues are not enough any more ! If by mistake you have registered your email ID at one of the store sites, they would spam your email with the sale alerts. However pissed I am with the emails, I never unsubscribe in the fear that i might miss out on a great offer ! See the vicious circle goes on and on :).
All in all, however much snow, storms and bankrupcy the holiday season might bring along, its one season that makes you realize that "LIFE is BEAUTIFUL and we should LIVE it to the FULLEST"
